Yay or No Way?: Sneaker Wedges

I remember first hearing about this trend last summer and thought nothing of it because I thought it was a trend that was going to leave as quickly as it arrived, however these sporty take on wedges are still here. I have given in and will have to say I’m really do like them. But are they too sporty to work in a young woman’s everyday wardrobe??? Comment down below if you think yay or no way?

Music Review: OFWGKTA

If you weren’t aware of OFWFKTA (odd future, wold gang, kill them all) I’m about to make you aware because I literally have not been able to stop listening to him for the past 4 days. I may be late on the OFWGKTA band wagon but I don’t care I really like the whole sound of the Odd future gang, and the story behind them. They’re just a bunch of friends from Los Angeles who were sick of hearing the same type of rap music about money and cars and hoes and decided to change that. As my pandora station like to describe them as ” if Wu Tang Clan had skateboarded & rhymed about drugs & gore instead of chess and kung-fu”, which is very accurate. Last week I saw an anncouncement on my college campus that they were coming to town and I was looking for some music sink my teeth into anyway so I decided to give them a try and I’m glad I did. If you don’t have a open mind and not into dark witty metaphors your not going to like them and just think they sound demonic and scary however to me thats not the case. Some of their lyrics are a little scary but  I like it because its so diffrent. I never listen to rap (unless its old school) because its all the same and has really stupid materialist egotistical content. OFWGKTA raps about teenage problems and feeling alone and lost and crazy but adds a sense of humor to it without distasteful but more physiological. My favorite person out of the whole wolf gang is of course the founder Tyler the Creator, now he’s only 20 but has built this musical empire and makes all the beats, which are so DOPE. I would highly recommend his album Goblin and the songs, Sandwiches, Yonkers, Radicals and Transylvania are my favorite. OFWGKTA is doing a Texas tour all throughout December so if you live in Texas I would definitely suggest going to see them

A while ago I wrote a blog post about Jeffry Campbell shoes and which ones I was dying for, well thanks to a heaven sent sale on nastygal.com I was able to justify investing in a pair. I bought a pair of black crochet litas, however I didn’t love them as much as thought I would because they didn’t go with my wardrobe as I much as I thought they would so I returned them. I waited a couple weeks, and saw that the tardy’s were on sale and I jumped on them immediately, especially because they were the limited edition lo-tardy’s that were exclusive to nasty gal. I fell in love with them, though they werent typcially my first pair of Jeffrey Campbell it sure felt like it, I was so excited. Let me just add how awkward it was picking up from the post office and carry a box across campus that had word NASTY in big print on the front of it, but I didn’t care. So far I will say the tardy’s are very comfortable  and have more cushioning in them then my nike running sneakers. They are the cool girls casual heel, and I just continue seeing what I can wear them with. So a few weeks after I got those I started stalking nastygal.com again, and found they had the spiked litas on sale for $94 and still do (click here for them!) and I died a little, a part of me knew I did not need to spend anymore money on shoes but these were originally $200 and I just couldnt pass up that kind of deal, so I got them. Let’s just say I’m obsessed with them cause they’re so fabulous but dangerous! Overall I’m very happy with my Jeffrey Campbell purchases and plan on adding more of his wonderful designs to my shoe collection.

Being Sick and Styling

I’m writing this blog post via iPhone in my bed since I’m incredibly sick and watching old episodes of the Rachel Zoe project on YouTube. As I was laying here watch oh-ing and ah-ing over clothes I can’t afford I thought I would update you guys on just what’s going on with me and my life and my future business ventures. If you haven’t seen my online store Yaya apparel ( http://www.yayaapparel.storenvy.com ) yet go see it cause I’m constantly working on it and trying to make it as popular as I have made this blog. It just dawned upon me that I’ve had this blog for almost 5 years and its still insane to me how much support and fans I have gotten, well I don’t want to say “I” but this! Thank you readers so much! Moving on (I have the attention span of an infant squirrel lol). Another really cool thing that’s going on is I’m styling now, well kinda. At the moment I’m finding a model and pulling looks for a fashion show that’s happening on my college campus, and I’m also styling and shooting a lookbook for Yaya Apparel. I’ve never styled before so I don’t know how this is going to work but hopefully really well. I need to go back to continue watching Rachel Zoe for inspiration!

Confession of a Shoeaholic

If your not part of the youtube fashion/beauty community then you’re probably not aware of what tags are, but their basically just a series of question that go around to each youtube guru. I’m not a youtube guru AT ALL so I dont know how I was tagged, but I havent had time to film but I really like this tag so I’m just gonna write about it instead.

1. Do you prefer heels or flats?- if I had to choose one to wear the rest of my life probably heels, cause I’m more comfortable being overdressed then under dressed for anything.
2. what are your go to shoes?- My doc martens, if I dont know which shoe to wear I wear those. They somehow just work with everything in my closet.
3. what is your favorite shoe trend at the moment?- My favorite shoe trend right now are really creative unique cool looking boots, both flat and heeled variations.
4. what is your least favorite shoe trend?- my least favorite are the UNIF shoes, they dont even look like shoes they look like costumes, and the platform sneaker. Just no.
5. what is your most expensive shoe?- my most expensive right now are my Jefferey Campbell black crochet litas which were actually on sale for $113.00 when I bought them. But I’m in the process of selling these cause I ordered the spiked ones literally an hour ago.
6. what are your most wanted pair of shoes?- The Steve Madden Madhouse Booties are sitting in my amazon.com wishlist just waiting for me, but they’re so pricey!
7. most embarrassing shoe story?- When I started wearing heels and started dating about my sophomore year of high school I went on a date with a very good looking guy and I was so nervous and a wore my brand new pair of VERY uncomfortable ankle boots that had 4 inch stiletto heels, and twisted my ankle walking in front of him. I twisted my ankle really badly too, it was just so bad lol.
8. pick a shoe and share a story?- When I was in the process of trying to find a pair of doc martens I was looking on ebay constantly, and my now ex-boyfriend who was pretty wealthy wanted to buy them for me but I didn’t let him. However a month later we broke up, and were not on good terms and he kept talking about how I would never get those shoes now because I wasn’t with him. But I promised myself I would get them to prove I didn’t need him, and I did and I still dont need him 🙂
9. how many shoes do you own?- Oh my, no idea. Half my shoes are here in my dorm, and the rest at home. And I’ve bought more shoes since being here so no clue.
10. when was the first time your wore heels?- Since I was like 3, I wore lipstick and heels like a boss. My mom’s friends were concerned lol.
11. how much do you usually spend on shoes?- a year ago I would’ve told you know more then $30 but now that I’m older I’m learning if I should invest in anything its shoes because the higher the price the better the quality is so recently I can justify spending about $30 to $120 on shoes
12. where are your favorite places to buy shoes?- DSW, Target, zooshoo.com, and nastygal.com
13. do you have a pair of shoes you regret buying?- I bought a pair of Jeffery Campbell tardy’s about a month ago from nastygal.com for $80 and they were originally $180 so I jumped on it, but about 2 weeks ago they were marked down even lower to $50. I really wish I waited, I like getting the best deal possible.
14. what are your favorite pair of shoes?- my favorite pair of shoes right now are a pair of ked like sneakers I got at target on clearance for $4.00 they’re so comfortable and I can just slide them on. I’m really lazy in the morning, shoes that dont involve me to tie them are just awesome lol

Fall Trends I’m Falling For

I havent done a fashion post in a while because nothing has really inspired me to do one. I’m not going to post okay pictures of girls who dress okay in okay clothing. However lately, as in fall 2012 the trends have been ON POINT. They are so fresh and so grungy but elegant and not crazy stupid will last very shortly trends, but trends we have seen before that have just got an upgrade. I’m obssessed with about 90% of what’s happening this fall.

1. Camoflauge/Military- I love this trend, this print somehow doesn’t scream “I watch Duck Dynasty” when you wear it right and instead screams “bad ass girl” to , and hey dont we all want to feel like that.

2. Oxblood/Wine Color- this isnt really a trend but to me I think everyone rediscovers how amazing and flattering this color is during the fall, its a really substitute for just black or dark blue, especially with pants!

3. Leather/Pleather Pleated Circle Skirts- I really hope this trend doesnt die cause its lovely and very simple but classy. Girly girls to tomboys can incorporate into any outfit. I hate skirts with a passion and even I bought one.
